The Winfield Gallery is about high quality, intriguing art and the eclectic taste of its owner/director, Chris Winfield. Step into the gallery and you'll experience the world as Chris Winfield always has: surrounded by art of all kinds. Winfield is an artist himself, and the gallery benefits from his educated selection of paintings, sculptures, ceramics, drawings, and photography. Artists at the gallery range from well-known to unknown, but their works all exhibit a common elegance and uniqueness--with an occasional journey into the bizarre for good measure.
About Us
Since 1990, the Winfield Gallery has displayed an eclectic mixture of art of all media, with a focus on sculpture, painting and ceramics by established, mid-career artists.
Works by contemporary sculptors Jack Zajac, Bruce Beasley, Dan Corbin, Gwynn Murrill, Nicolas Africano, Mel Schuler and Peter Hiers grace the central, sun-lit main gallery, surrounded by contemporary paintings by Russell Chatham, Jim McVicker, Bill Martin, Peter Loftus, Andrea Johnson, Tracey Adams, Mari Kloeppel and Don Fritz among others.
Since relocating to a much larger space within the heart of Carmel as of April 2001, Chris Winfield has been able to additionally display artworks for sale by such recognized 20th century artists as Helen Frankenthaler, Richard Diebenkorn and Erle Loran. Paintings by 1960s Bay Area masters such as Bruce McGaw, Raimonds Staprans and Joan Savo strengthen the mix, as does his offering of estate paintings by Millard Sheets and S.C. Yuan.
Lit shelving in a corner of the main gallery, as well as a side room, showcase a large and wonderful selection of ceramic works by Beatrice Wood, Annette Corcoran, James Lovera, Tony Marsh, Beau Kvenild, Betty Spindler, Karen Shapiro, Jenny Morten and Jillian Banks among others.
An additional interior room currently showcases drawings by Francisco Zuniga, David Park, Bruce McGaw, James Weeks, Robert DeNiro, Sr. and Martha Alf.
